OUR
HISTORY
Each
of us has a heritage. And so it is with institutions. It is that
from our past upon which we build in the present for
the future.
That institution
we call The Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill has a proud
heritage dating back to the 1950 to 1956 time period during which
the stirrings of UUism in Southern New Jersey started with about
two dozen people. In 1956 we took the first formal step and became
The Unitarian Fellowship of South Jersey. In 2002 we dedicated a
new complex of buildings, installed our sixth called minister and
embarked upon a fresh, new path.
In between those
startings and this present were many successes, a few failures and
the expenditure of much caring and energy. This is our story.
For both visitors
to this site and for our members interested in knowing more about
the history of their church, we have the following three items for
your perusal:
•
History
of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill - 1954-2001
( This brief history of UUCCH was written in 2001 by Louise Marshall
and members of a Ministerial Search Committee.)
•
"Building Our Dream"
program.
(Read about our $2.6 million dollar, 8 year expansion program.)
•
"Building
Our Dream" photo album.
(With 20 photos of the details of the BOD program, the excitement
of that project is recorded for members to show their friends and
for visitors to enjoy.)
