Ministerial
Candidate Sponsorship
The
process by which new ministers are chosen in Unitarian-Universalism
is unusual. The ordination of UU Ministers is done only by individual
congregations - not by any organizational hierarchy. Thus, for a UU
congregation, the process of ordination is both an opportunity and a
responsibility- an opportunity to assist in defining the future of UUism
and a responsibility to both the individuals seeking to become ministers
and to Unitarian Universalism itself - to ensure that motivated and
qualified people become ministers.
The Unitarian Universalist Association also participates in the process.
Via it's Ministerial Fellowship Committee, the UUA does set both academic
and personal standards ministerial applicants must meet. The UUA also
has an affiliation with two seminaries.
At UUCCH, we have sponsored four people for ordination three of which
were ordained in this church. All four of these are listed below.

a former long-time church member before deciding on the UU ministry.
He now serves the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas. |

Mr. Berge graduated from Lancaster
Theological Seminary. |
Terry Berge underwent a change
in his belief system and now is with another faith. |
