Our
Natural Woodlands
UUCCH
is on 17 of the most delightful acres in Cherry Hill consisting of the
highest spot in Cherry Hill on which we have: our new "Church on
the Hill", a former peach orchard and lowlands with native ferns
and Jack-in-the-Pulpits. This land was wisely acquired by our founders
in 1959-1970. Since that time we have spent countless hours working
the property until it now has about 500 different tree, plant and shrub
taxa. - the largest fraction of this planting and development work being
done by Ken, a former professional landscape architect. We have about
100 memorial plantings, 10 memorial benches (of which 5 are teak with
one shown in the adjacent photo) and several picnic tables. We were,
for a time, members of the American Association of Botanical Gardens
and Arboreta since the wide variety of our plantings and our continuous
grounds maintenance are of arboretum quality.
We are very proud of these natural woodlands and are also anxious to
share them with all - for picnicking, bird watching or reconnecting
with our natural environment. Come visit, walk, sit, enjoy.
